The business was started after Levi Reames saw a need in his personal life. His aging grandfather was ill and needed assistance. However, he wanted to remain in his home. Reames felt like there must be another option and started researching. He became acquainted with Comfort Keepers, a company that specializes in non-medical in-home care.
The Reames started a Kokomo Indiana franchise in 2005. After selling that location, Levi and his wife, Jamie, set their eyes on Owensboro, KY where they purchased a new location.
“We visited Owensboro at least six times before making the move,” said Levi Reames. “Now, we have fallen in love with the area and the people and the schools have high national rankings.”
Comfort Keepers allows seniors the option to remain safe and comfortable in their own homes instead of moving to a long-term care facility. They provide a range of services, including daily living assistance such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, errands and transportation; Personal care services including grooming, dressing, bathing, toileting and transfer assistance are also offered. These services are in demand for families who are geographically scattered and pressed for time.
“The high quality of our service is due to the excellence of our Comfort Keepers. This excellence is attributed to the fact that all of our Comfort Keepers have been through comprehensive background checks plus all employees are bonded and insured. This in turn provides piece of mind to families while Comfort Keepers is in the home,” said Levi Reames.
“We are frequently entrusted with our clients’ overall security and well-being. It is essential for us to know our clients’ needs, respect their wishes and maintain a relationship of absolute trust,” said Jamie Reames.
Their service hours doubled in the six months under their ownership and sales are projected to grow of 43% over last year’s numbers. The business started with 35 full and part-time employees and has grown to 75.
