Ron Taylor started his career working for a large concrete sawing and core drilling company in California. Over the following 18 years, he worked for concrete sawing and core drilling operati ons in Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina learning all he could about the concrete drilling and sawing business. In 1999, Taylor purchased his first truck and started Taylor’s Concrete Cutting Services out of his home in Brownsville. In 2003, he relocated his business to Franklin so he could capture more of the Nashville market.
Taylor’s Concrete Cutting Services, LLC continually works to improve their employees’ experience. They allow flexible scheduling and in 2008 began offering health care coverage to their employees.
They have created a “team” work environment that allows them to meet customers’ needs while maintaining employee satisfaction. In fact, they are seeing the results of their employee initiatives through a 100% decrease in their employee turnover rate. Additionally, sales are continuing to grow. This year the company expects to surpass the $1 million mark.
“Our employees are imperative to our success. In the construction industry, it’s really difficult to retain people. We have been very fortunate to have hired and retained well qualified people,” said Pat Riley, General Manager. “In return, it’s nice to be able to provide jobs to people and help take care of their families.
Taylor’s Concrete Cutting Services, LLC was featured in the March issue of Concrete Openings, the official magazine of the Concrete Sawing and Drilling Associati on. The article focused on the project the business completed for a general contractor at Kingsford Product Company’s plan in Summer Shade, KY. The project was unique, but Ron Taylor and his employees successfully completed it by taking an innovati ve approach and collaborati ng with other contractors.
“We realize the job isn’t about drilling holes and cutting concrete, but providing the best customer service we can,” Riley said.
